The Genesis GV80 is one of the most overlooked luxury SUV crossovers on the Market. Now it has a midcycle refresh it's even [Music] [Applause] better. Everyone likes nice things, but only some agree on what makes a vehicle appealing. This should satisfy many: the 2025 Genesis GV80, if you're not familiar with the brand, and a surprising

A number of folks aren't. It's the luxury division of the Hyundai group. Any anonymity should be gone soon 2023 was a great year for us 23% increase year-over-year, so we're pretty proud of this accomplishment. I'm in Fort Worth, Texas, at the GV80 relaunch, the midcycle refresh of the vehicle responsible for a full third of Genesis sales. It gets subtle exterior tweaks heavy on Genesis called the two-line theme. In other words, two lines in the

Head and tail lamps plus side markers it's added to the grill hatching wheels and lower fascia detail, which Echoes The Shield shape of the grill and the brand is quite proud of the more detailed badging that ditches plastic for metal,, but this is what the crew focused on the most smart it's what owners see the most of a new 27 in OLED screen gets the crisp Square form factor that Tech fashionistas love it's a common topic of discussion vehicles are becoming more.

Expensive these days. Good news: Genesis is holding the price of the GV80 for 2025. It starts at around $59,000. All-wheel drive is standard, and they've added kit gv80 can be had with three rows. The V6 Prestige Trim in Capri Blue that I'm testing with two rows of seating retails for $81,300 yes, that does include shipping powertrains. Those are unchanged. First, of course, is going to be our standard 4cylinder turbocharged inline 4 right 300

Horsepower a bit over 300 lb-feet of torque, and this gets you the most inner power amongst our key competitors. All of the 80s on hand in Texas get their oomph from a 3.5 L twin-turbo V6 pumping out a healthy 375 horsepower and 391 LBT of torque. When burning premium gasoline, choose the V6, and there's an available electronically controlled limited-slip differential. Both engines.

Shift with an 8-speed transmission. I keep confusing the shift by wire control controller with the interface knob H. Maybe that's just me manual shifts. Yes, Drive modes, of course; adaptive dampers are standard on V6 g80s and an option on turbo 4 models. What's great about this particular system is that it uses the front ads camera array module to read the road surface ahead so it can anticipate bumps it can anticipate um a pothole, can a speed bump.

Right, and it'll pre-load the suspension accordingly to Glide over whatever it is that's on the road. Would I like a hybrid powertrain in this vehicle for efficiency? Yes, I would, but not available to say, though the twin-turbo V6 is a really nice engine 0 to 60 in 5 seconds, good power off the line, very smooth, and it sounds terrific. This is a nice powertrain. Premium vehicles need to isolate noise. The 80 does that with acoustic glass.

In the windshield and front side windows more insulation in the C and D pillars now, plus active noise cancellation if the new Bang and Olson surround sound system is on board. It's excellent by the way people buy premium SUVs like this to pamper themselves. The GV80 delivers. It's quiet, it's comfortable, it's refined. I'm shocked I don't see more of these on the road. Really, they should be as popular as Lexus Rxs. There's a human connection to the mechanical nature of the vehicle. The

V6 can be heard, but it's muted in that luxury car way. The transmission programming is absolutely spot-on on extremely smooth. You don't notice the shifts and downshifts quickly if you want to pass the Adaptive dampers using the camera information. Do a great job of keeping the ride quality composed. The drive modes really do change the character of the GB80, putting it into comfort, and this is a plush mobile that puts it into the sport. It firms up the suspension.

Plus, you get rev-matching downshift blips, nice the steering firms up nicely, too. Owners should be able to find the dynamic they want, whatever mood they're in. Overall, there's a rear-drive bias happening. The most power that the front tyres ever get is 50%. Not all Texas pavement is billiard table smooth gv80 remains poised and Polished. This would be a great Road Tripper, but for one thing, the powertrain is something special, um, the fuel economy is less.

The EPA rates it at 19 miles per gallon. Again would love a hybrid system in this vehicle; chances are that won't happen until a full redesign. The cabin of the outgoing GV80 was far from a Hyundai venue-grade experience. This updated interior is Progressive and fashioned forward trim includes traditional open-pore wood, but nice things don't have to take the usual approach. Genesis uses Innovative materials this as recycled pet bottles.

Infused with Bal Rock, I've not seen anything like it. It looks great, like a room at the Four Seasons. The space is a mix of modern and classic elements. Everything that we do is a new thinking approach. We really want to come to Market in ways that suit the needs of our consumers that others may not have thought of before and are distinctly Korean. This one's really important um because we are the only luxury Automotive brand from Korea uh in

Fact we're one of the only luxury brands from Korea. The 27-inch old screen is just the right size. You can hide different widgets or add other widgets you want to make it as informative as you want or as simple as you want. Well, we give you that flexibility by massaging climate-controlled seats that automatically vent on hot days and warm on cold ones. This is a luxury vehicle. After all, dial in sport mode, and the side bolsters hug harder; the armrest is also made of heated materials.

Look expensive. There must be a mile of stitching in here, and there's interesting Hues. This Navy colourway will fit in nicely at the Yacht Club. There's a smoky green treatment, too, or black for playing it safe, cameras loads of them. The system even has image-capturing digital rearview mirrors that are good for loading the cargo hold to the ceiling, class-leading safety a lot of text up here. We'll pick a few things that are updated for the 2025 right lane.

Following assist forward attention warning blind spot collision avoidance assist smart career is now is machine learning Highway in assist Park distance warning and Remote Smart parking assist as well the Genesis mood curator provides sounds ambient lighting graphics and even sents to adjust your attitude the storage areas are lined with mouse for or finished so that there are no rough edges the interface is improved too don't like fingerprints on.

The OLED screen uses this. The graphics, Manu flow, and touch response are all top-grade for the first owner. Jesus Connected Services are free with no subscription fees. There are separate controls for the HVAC and a bunch of dedicated and physical controls. It's not all on the screen. There's a relocated Chi charge pad. Speaking of phones can be Keys, even iPhones. Now, all gv80 is shipped with Hardware that finally offers Wireless Apple car play and Android auto.

That's coming soon with an over-the-air update. One thing that stays the same for 2025 is the back seat. I'm 5'9 I have plenty of head, knee, leg, and foot room. Quite good, not stretch-out spacious, but I am comfortable, especially since the cushions are high enough and long enough for great thigh support. The seat rake is adjustable, so the cushion for travel-powered sun shades is stored in the door pockets on the seatback vanity mirrors. It is all here. Remember, this is a

Fully loaded model, so there's a climate zone with heated and vented seats for the outboard positions back here, too. A unique drive shaft setup keeps the spine small the seat is wide enough to haul three average-sized adults across town without much of a squeeze or two if they want a place for their frappuccino gv80 is available with three rows of seating. This particular one has two, um, no TP trunk test. I did a map search, and the closest Costco is 75 M away, so

Yeah, not happening. This only comes with a repair kit and no spare tyre. Sadly, that's very common these days. The third row eats up this cavity, plus it's on the right side only for small kids GV80 will take on Long things, no sweat. It's quite a reach-in from the bumper to drop the seat back, so these are helpful. It's a spacious boot with nearly 35 cubic feet with all the seats filled. Dropping them expands that to 84 cubic feet. That's pretty darn roomy, and yes, these are

Motorized on the way up to now with limited time in the 2025 model, here's my red light, green light take green lights gv80 was always handsome now it's dressed for Success. The crafted interior treatments are arguably Best in Class with slightly sporting driving Dynamics. This is a sanctuary from behind the wheel. Even loaded at 81 Grand, the GV is good value in the luxury segment. Yellow Lights loves the cabin redesign

The interface controller location needs to be clearer and fully competitive with established premium marks. Genesis lacks brand cache for now. Standard all-wheel drive is great but adds cost and inefficiency for buyers who don't need it. Red lights while Genesis will finally have a number of dedicated showrooms. Buying at a Hyundai dealership takes the Shine off the premium experience 19 MP gallon on premium fuel will ding pocketbooks and the available third row.

Is a kidson Zone Cross Shopping does it with Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Cadillac xt6, Lexus RX and TX, Lincoln Nautilus, Mercedes GLE and GLS, plus Volvo XC90. The gv8 was always a great vehicle with the midcycle refresh. It's even better, so if you're thinking about a luxury vehicle, I suggest heading over to your Hyundai dealership. Yes, that's where they're sold, for the most part, to check one of these out. Yes, there are new Genesis showrooms that are Standalone.

But for the most part, you're still going to a 100 dealership. Dramatic on the outside and uniquely Korean on the inside, GV80 offers a different take on luxury. Owners will see it coming and going once word spreads on how good it [Music] is. I find it fascinating and smart that Genesis is embracing its Korean luxury Mission Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are quick to brag about German engineering. Cadillac and Lincoln are all about

American luxury back 5 years ago, it seemed that Lexus was poised to do the same with its Japanese Heritage, but Executives quickly put the kibosh on that eagle. Viewers will notice that the exterior running footage supplied by Genesis that I needed to use is not green while I was actually driving a Capri Blue car. I desperately try for continuity, but sometimes there's nothing I can do when I'm on these Drive events. I have limited time.
